I Have Had Open Heart Surgery..nearly Six Years Ago...i Was 48 Years Old...i Have Been Banded And Had No Problems...i Did Have To Have Clearance From My Doctor To Have The Surgery....just An Extra Precaution...

I personally do not have heart issues other than a murmur I was born with, but my DH just had open heart surgery followed by cardiac ablation last month. At one of his visits, it come up that I had been banded, she ask me all kinds of questions about it, and indicated that if that is what it took for me to lose weight then it was all a good thing. She said the excess weight is terrible for you so it is good that you took care of it before it caused you problems.

So hopefully your Dr.'s see it the same way! Good Luck!

I had bypass 11 years ago, and 4 years ago had stents put in , and neither was a problem. I had my surgery 8/1 and the doctors kept me overnight in ICU because of the past heart problems, but that all. Feel great now.

Yes, I am only 9 days out and feeling great. No problems and I am not hungry.

:faint:I have a heart problem and have had open heart surgery. I have a heart disease called HOCM. I flew through the surgery no real problems just a few odd beats that scared the staff at the hospital but thats just my heart and what it does.
