Calorie Intake Post-Op

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if I need to worry about calorie intake in weeks 2 and 3? I'm not sure if I need to take in only 400 - 500 calories only. I was banded on 24 July 07, I'm feeling great, not starving (which surprised me), and I've lost 31 pounds since my initial visit on 21 June 07.

Any info anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

My doc recommended 800-1000 calories for this stage.

My doc mentioned calories only in telling me to make sure I got enough, that huge Water and muscle tissue weight loss was not really that beneficial and it was better to nourish myself to heal and have slower loss that was real fat loss.

Nor did I do a preop liquid diet at a BMI of 35 becuase he said that it's just not beneficial if you dont need to shrink your liver.

In short - you will have fast weight loss consisting of a lot of water anyway, but try to minimise it and give your body what it needs. 1000 calories a day will be hard to reach anyway.
