Okay, I'm a little pissed right now. I was just talking to a friend of mine who, thus far, has been supportive. She said she was talking to her girlfriend (who's studying to be a nurse) told her "There's a lot of complications w/that thing".

Okay,

(1) Do you think I haven't done my research about this and am unaware of the complications? What did you expect my response to be??? "Oh really? I didn't know that. Shucks, I didn't even think about complications. I didn't factor that into my decision." I have researched this damn procedure for the longest and actually told my surgeon I've watched the video so much that I could probably assist him in his next surgery.

(2) My surgery is in 2 freakin days. I don't want to hear this mess right now. I don't even want to talk to her anymore about this. I'm so damn mad right now. Excuse my French.

(3) I'm sick of people who are uneducated about this process putting in their stupid 2 cents! I'm so sick of it. This is why I have been hesitant to tell anyone about this. I don't want them to ruin my journey into LapBand and I refuse to let them. You ain't raining on my parade.

I will just enjoy this next day and be excited about my new life. There are so many people here on LBT that have been super successful w/this and I am focused on that. No, I'm not burying my head in the sand to those that have had complications, but they're to be expected.

I've made an informed decision and that's that.

Get used to it. I have hardly told anyone just for that reason. I was in the walk in clinic today for something, and I felt like a freak of nature because I have a band. AND live in WI, but got my band in Denver. They thought it was so weird that I had a band. and "why would you fly all the way to denver??"

I completely agree!!!!

Anyway i have a frined who acted completely supportive in the beginning but now she is like... "i would never go that far to have surgery and i can lose the weight by diet and excercise" (with an attitude) she thinks it to drastic... and what she dont realize that i needed it and had been through a lot of different diets that just didn't work... Oh welll i dont let it bother me anymore i did this for myself and not anybody else... just keep that in mind...

Just realize that sometimes people utter things in ignorance, often out of love...not that it helps your feelings all that much. You will have lots of comments, believe me. You will also have lots of eyes watching every time you eat anything...people are so judgmental!!! Don't worry about it, you know what's best for you, so go forth with courage and tenacity!!

Two days before I was banded, a friend of mine brought around a Detox recipe book and asked me to try that before I had the surgery. I said 'thank you. That has some good recipes for post-surgery'. She was so worried something was going to go wrong. But she doesn't understand the position I'm in. She's a stick - has never had a weight problem and doesn't fully grasp that I've tried everything and this is a last resort.

But I know it was out of love - and it is a cool book :eek:
