With my insurance I had to go through them and be approved by everything before I could make an appointment with a surgeon. I'm nervous about this appointment. Can anyone tell me what to expect ?

I went to an information session first (it was actually hosted by my surgeon) and learned a lot about the surgery, risks, etc. I scheduled my first appointment at the session.

My first appointment with the surgeon was to take basic vitals, medical history, and we went over the list of all the things I have to do, and clearances I have to get from other docs to qualify for the surgery. It was really quick since most of my questions were covered in the info session.
