Iron Infusions

Hi. I'm new here, hoping to have sleeve surgery in late January or early February.

Got my labs back and my Iron among other things was low (also low D and low B12).

I'm scheduled for an iron infusion tomorrow but I'm anxious about that. Anyone go through an iron infusion? Any complications?

Thanks ☺️

Kadie777, how low was your iron that you need a transfusion? I've never known anyone to need a transfusion. Are they starting you on B12 shots or an OTC B12? My iron was low, I take 750 mg a day and 100,000 units a week of Vitamin D.

Hi. Thanks for your reply. My ferritin level is at 8.

I have had chronic low iron. I'm not sure that I know how it feels to have normal iron levels. I have felt fatigued for a long time. I hope the infusion helps but I get anxious because I've never had an infusion before. I read about side effects, and although serious side effects are rare, I had almost convinced myself to cancel earlier today.
