Sorry to hear that. I have not had that issue.

That's normal. I had one too. I actually had 2. One internal and one under the skin near my belly button.

I'm three weeks out and it's starting to go away. I saw my surgeon last week and said its pretty common from the instruments and it should go away. It doesn't hurt anymore for me but it was pretty sensitive. My internal one on the other hand really hurt for awhile.

I had one at the largest incision (where they actually pull the stomach out). It was about the size you are describing. They said that it would either be re-absorbed into the body or it would rupture and leak out dark dead blood. Literally the next day it popped and dribbled dark red ichor. While it was gross, it was not really a big deal. After the majority of it drained, I pressed around the edges to get the rest out and kept a bandage over it. The next time I went in for my appointment, they stuffed wadding in it that I had to change after each shower.

My surgeon did not like it, but only from a perfectionist POV. The scar is a little wider than he wanted it to be because of the wadding, but it is by no means the largest of all my scars. At 8 months post surgery, it has already started fading and I expect it to be unnoticeable to a casual glance by 1 year.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
