Left should pain during eating

Please help! It's been about 3 weeks since my gastric sleeve and hernia repair. Almost Everytime I eat I get a sharp shooting pain in my left shoulder it's almost unbearable ... Any suggestions why this happens? I chew my food thoroughly and and on soft foods currently.

  • I had similar pain.. My surgeon told me that I was swollen from hernia repair and it would eventually subside. Make sure you eat slowly and chew chew chew

  • Yes I had it too, and now sometimes I still get it, 8 weeks out. Doc said it is unusual but common and not to worry about it. It happens when I eat and get full.

  • I get it if I eat too fast and get too full. My nose gets really stuffy too.

great to hear thank you thank you

You have to figure that a lot of nerves and tissue were moved around during surgery. Pressure on a nerve in one location could result in sensations in completely different locations.

Definitely bring this to your surgeon's attention.

Best wishes for you on your weight loss and progress.
