I thought I recall reading that some are on a script to prevent gallstones but I searched and can't find it. If yes what Med is it and what's the duration, for life? Thanks

@@con con Ursodiol is used to dissolve certain types of gallstones, to prevent gallstones from forming in obese patients who are losing weight rapidly. Your surgeon would have to find it necessary for you to take it. It's usually taken twice a day for patients having rapid weight loss and can be taken for months or even years. If you eat a diet low in fat it will help if your just worried about developing them. The gallbladder is simply storage for the bile that the liver makes to emulsify fat once it hits the small intestine. If you eat healthy fats such as salmon with Omega-3 fatty acids, veggies, fruits, nuts, and stay away from (limit) saturated fats like red meats, butters and carb rich foods you can help to prevent gallstones. Fish oil is also beneficial to help the gallbladder empty, especially if you have higher triglyceride levels. There you go! More than you asked for! Ha!!
