Insurance Approval

I am getting so nervous I have been waiting since September 3 for an approval or denial from my insurance. I have called 3 times and all they keep telling me is that it is pending. I have Empire Plan/United Healthcare. Anyone else have that insurance and how long did it take to get a denial or approval? I guess I am more nervous because I am on the lower end of the BMI mine is 35.8 but I do have HBP and high cholesterol.

IT is the worst my surgery is scheduled for October 14 what happens if I don't hear anything before that? My stomach is in knots all I want to do is eat. Uggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh!!!

I absolutely agree that waiting is the worst. My doctors office called me with a surgery date. October 19th is the day, pending insurance approval. I've about drove myself crazy thinking about it. I hope your alls approvals come in soon! Waiting is absolutely agonizing.

I was approved on Tuesday 9/22, they submitted to UHC on 9/8 I believe. I called a few times, just to check on it. Both times they gave me the option to "elevate" the authorization... which I believe means puts a red flag on the case, or moves it to the "top of the pile". My surgery date is also October 19th.

So get ready for this.

At my initial appointment, I was told that my insurance required me lose at least 10% of my initial weight during my 6 month supervised diet.

I lost 20 pounds.

The denial reason is that because I lost 20 pounds over the 6 months, the surgery is not deemed "medically necessary" because I can lose weight on my own.
