Hi all, I'm new to this site & although I have researched a lot about WLS I'm finding it difficult to get some of the information I need regarding breastfeeding before (pre op diet) & after WLS. My baby is almost 3mths old. I'm due to have my surgery on Sept 26th & plan to continue breastfeeding. Has anyone done this successfully?

Hello! I've been banded for a few yrs. i have a just-turned 1 year and breastfed for 9 months, when she decided she'd rather see what's going on then be pressed up against me lol,you CAN do it successfully, i had to have a good amt of Fluid removed at about 6mths pregnant due to severe nausea and vomiting. i just had a fill a few months ago and continued to nurse, MAKE SURE you have PLENTY of plain ol Water and healthy foods, continue taking your prenatals, i took a chewable, good luck!!!!

Thank you so much for your response. It's great that you managed to work your band around your pregnancy! I'm currently breastfeeding & hope the pre op diet won't effect my milk supply? It's not a liquid only one & I plan on drinking plenty of water plus take my pregnancy supplement. I'm expressing & freezing so I'll have enough milk for while I'm in the hospital. I plan to express & dump for 48 hrs after surgery because of anaesthetic & any pain relief then resume BF do you think that sounds ok? Sorry for all the questions it's very difficult to get the information & I'm feeling really guilty about having this surgery so soon after his birth but I really can't go on as I am. I've been yo yo dieting all my life!
