September Gastric Bypass Peeps

So I just got my approval from the insurance company, and I my surgery is scheduled for Sept. 11. I know, not a very auspicious day, but it is going to become the first day of my new life.

I am so nervous. I have been looking forward to this for over eight months, when I decided I really wanted this surgery, and now it is here I can hardly believe it. Getting the date made it really real for me. I know I am doing the right thing, and I am excited about it (especially after seeing all of the people here who have been so glad they did it), but it is still scary. I just know it is going to get even more so as the date gets closer.

Any encouragement appreciated!

Any other people out there with a September surgery date?

Congratulations and good luck with the surgery.

I have my final weigh in on 9/3 and then it goes to insurance. I think/hope for a late Sept date! The coordinator said 10-14 days for approval.

Congratulations to you!

Congratulations toasty! I'm waiting for my approval, fingers crossed! But they said my surgery will be early to mid September if approved. Did you get a quick response from your insurance?

I know how you feel, I have been excited through the whole process, but now it's scary! It's a major surgery. But hang in there it will all be worth it.

Yeah, it was unbelievable by my approval came in the day after they submitted it. The scheduler said it was the fastest they have ever seen. They said it is not uncommon to take two weeks or more.

I'll send good wishes your way in hopes that your approval comes in soon.

I have been waffling back and forth whether to tell the people at work about it. I told my boss yesterday (as soon as I got a firm surgery date). Today I decided, what the hell, everyone is going to know about it anyway when I get back. So I told the office at our staff meeting today.

I was surprised at all of the well-wishes from everyone. I don't know what I was expecting, but it felt good to have everyone so positive about this with me. I'm glad I did it.

Of course, I still have four weeks until the surgery, but I will be out for four weeks, which is a pretty significant amount of time. Thank goodness for FMLA.

I'm approved! I'm having surgery September 21st!!!

I'm looking into Vitamins for post-op, and I am wondering whether I should be getting liquid Calcium for the liquid phase of my diet, or if I can use the chewable kind? I am looking at the Bariatric Advantage "chewy bites", because they look tasty, but I am not sure I will be able to tolerate the chewy bites during my first few weeks.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I eat the chewy bites chocolate from bariatric advantage from about a week out of surgery. I chew it up really good and then swallow it and everything seems to be fine. I like the taste, and I'm getting the caramel also.

My doctor doesn't want us to take calcium till 30 days out. My surgery is 8/25 but I have already started taking Bariatric Advantage calcium. I will stop taking them next weekend. 4 days before surgery. I like the flavor.

Just got scheduled for bypass and hernia repair on Sept 22! Let the count down begin!

Congratulations!

What Protein supplies are my September friends sticking up on?

I bought some Syntrax nectar Isopure. I am clearing out a kitchen cabinet that will be "mine". I don't want to get my protein and such from the same place cabinet that has poptarts and such.

I just ordered some Popsicle molds and sugar free Torani syrup....Pinterest has lots of great ideas for Protein Drink recipes.
