Anyone have problems with Protein Powders?

Hi all,

I am 8 months out and doing well but had a question around Protein intake. I have been using various brands of Protein Bars and ready made Protein shakes which has been fine. However I have tried a number of different protein powders to try and add to food or to make up my own shakes. The problem is that whenever I use these powders or supplements it upsets my stomach and I end up having to rush to the bathroom after around an hour or so. Is this a common problem ? Does anyone else have this problem and if so any ideas why?

I had a big problem with protein and shakes. I now use pure protein chocolate with unsweetened almond milk and some pb2. It's really good and has 25 grams per scoop.

I either mix with yogurt, Water or skim milk. I occasionally has put an ounce or so of juice for flavor (orange juice) to plain yogurt.

Just using with Water. I was wondering if maybe I'm just a little intolerant to one of the ingredients.

I also had issues with protein. My go to was premier but when I tried the powder and RTD post surgery, they both made me sick. Then I tried other brands in chocolate flavors and the same thing. I ended up going to the vitamin shoppe and finding an unflavored protein powder that I now use when I make smoothies. Much better results.

I also had problems with the protein drinks, running to the bathroom too many times. NUT suggested a brand that was lactose free, but that did not help. The surgeon said probiotics may or may not help me, so I got some, and they did not help initially. At my surgeon's urging, went to getting my protein quota in real food which finally did the trick. I counted all the proteins religiously. I can now use Premier protein once a day with no problems.
