  1. Hi, I kept it secret apart from my direct family and one person at work who I needed to cover for me, (my job involved quite a bit of meals and events and it was around Christmas). I was a bit worried about how people would react or 'judge' me and felt that I needed to get comfortable with it myself first. I only really started telling people about 2 or 3 months after when I found that people were asking about the weight-loss and were actually getting discouraged because they were dieting and going to the gym and were not getting the results that I seemed to be getting by doing the same thing. I was massively surprised by peoples reactions and feel guilty apart underestimating them. I can honestly say I have never had one negative comment, to my face at least. Mostly people have been so supportive, and at the end of the day, its what you think that counts. Do whatever you feel comfortable with, and hope it all goes well!
  2. Hi. I'm checking in for the first time in a while. I had Sleeve in December 2014 and lost 200lbs at the lightest. Put around 28 back on over the last year or so but coming back down again now. Despite putting on a few pounds I completed my first Ultra-Marathon last year (53.5 miles) and still love to run. Still have to remind myself constantly what like was like before the sleeve as discipline has slacked a bit. Great to see you all on here still.

To Tell or Not to Tell?!?

I only told my Wife and Parents before Surgery, and then my Sisters a couple of weeks after. That was it for 3 or 4 months, and used to tell people that I was just on a Doctor monitored diet, which consisted of High protein and portion control. I think most people bought into that, but when the weight really started coming off, people started to ask more questions. With my job I have to socialise quite a bit so I started to feel uncomfortable at not being completely honest so made the decision to tell anyone who asked the truth. I have to say I was prepared for negative comments and views but I have honestly not had one. All I have had is support and genuine interest from people.
  4. One year Surgiversary yesterday. Started at 350lbs, now 161 lbs. Before Now. Best decision I have ever made!
  5. Hi all, I am 8 months out and doing well but had a question around Protein intake. I have been using various brands of Protein Bars and ready made Protein shakes which has been fine. However I have tried a number of different protein powders to try and add to food or to make up my own shakes. The problem is that whenever I use these powders or supplements it upsets my stomach and I end up having to rush to the bathroom after around an hour or so. Is this a common problem ? Does anyone else have this problem and if so any ideas why?
  6. Just using with Water. I was wondering if maybe I'm just a little intolerant to one of the ingredients.

With work I had to go and visit one of our other offices. When showing my Work pass, which has an old photo on it, they refused to believe I was the same person. I had to call a colleague to come and tell them. ????

  14. Hi all. Booked my op for 6th December. Did wonder weather or not to wait until after Christmas but figured that there was no point in waiting and getting even bigger. Gonna be tough but looking forward to starting a new life style.
