Why Isn't Anything Happening

Hi Y'all

I Had A Fill 2 Weeks Ago. And Boy Can I Feel It. But, I Haven't Lost Any Weight At All!!!! I'm Barely Eating Anything. On Top Of That I Had A Stomach Bug Last Week And Was So Sick I Couldn't Eat For 3 Days. I've Started Eating Again And Counting Calories, I Just Don't Get Why I Haven't Lost Any Weight. I Know The Fill Is Working By Not Allowing Me To Eat As Much, But It's Not Helping Me Loose Weight. It's Not My food Choices Bc I'm Eating Meat's And Veggies. I Feel Like A Failure And Don't Know What To Do. To Top It Off My Husband Just Stared A Diet 2 1/2 Weeks Ago (he's Not Banded) And Has Lost 17lbs. While I'm Happy For Him I'm Also Feeling Very Bad About Myself. Any Help Would Help.

Are you drinking enough water? Are you exercising? Maybe you are not getting in enough calories and your body is in "starvation" mode... just thoughts....

I bet you are not eating enough. I was stuck for almost two weeks with not a budge on the scale. Then I had a day where I pigged out (well relatively. I had 900 cals where I could usually only get in 500-600). The next day I was down 2 lbs.

How many calories a day are you taking in. You should be taking low side 800, high side 1200. You should be losing at least 1 -2 lbs per week. Also, increase your physical activities. That should help. I always have a 30 gram protein shake for breakfast followed by lean protein at lunch and dinner. Good luck.

The lap band did not work too well for me. I guess because I worked around it. I had a lot of restriction and only lost 26 lbs in the first year. Well I had an ovary erupt due to a tumor. Ever since then I have been maxed out on my fills and losing weight FAST. I'm down 100lbs. Everyone says you can be too full. No I think thats a bunch of crap. I got some taken out so I could just eat small amounts and I gained weight. I got another fill and it started falling back off. I dont diet I dont exercise. I eat maybe a cup of food a day. I think some women have hormone problems and dont realize what that has to do with weight gain.

I too went thru that stage where I didn't lose anything. But don't let it get to you. Go heavey on the protiens and exercise. And drink plenty of water. Remember with the band surgery you don't lose as fast. it's a more natural weight lose. Don't give up. I almost did myself because I expected too much from myself.

You sure can be too tight and you sound like you are too tight. If you are eating a cup of food a day you can't possibly be getting your basic nutrition in and since Vitamins are poorly absorbed you can't get everything you need from those either.

The biggest problems with being too tight are:

Lack of proper nutrition. Short term this isn't really a big deal. Long term it is a big deal.

Slips... they happen frequently with bands that are too tight.

Erosion... the latest thinking on erosion is that it is caused by a band that is too tight for too long.

Reflux... caused by bands that are too tight. This can lead to stomach and esophageal problems.

Esophagus damage is another.

I totally understand your frustration with being able to work around the band. I completely relate to your frustration with slow weight loss. But a band that is too tight is treading on thin ice. Just please be careful.
