I am 1 month post op and can barely eat or drink anything. No leaks, just severe nausea and dehydration with no end in sight. Does anyone have any recent experience with TPN?

What is that

TPN stands for total parenteral nutrition. It is a solution made up of fats/lipids, amino acids, vitamins, and electrolytes that is administered intravenously. It is reserved for severely malnourished patients that have exhausted other options for nutritional support.

I have a family member that had to take TPN a few months ago after surgery. It made her really nauseated and gave her severe diarrhea BUT it kept her hydrated and she got all of the nutrition that she needed after her horrible surgery! Definitely would not be her first choice to take it again but it saved her life!
