Any south Florida sleevers?

Recommended Posts

No my doc doesn't have any support groups. You would think that with so many people having WLS that there would be more support groups around. I live down in Boynton and I've checked all over palm beach county and really haven't found any support groups except for those offered by specific docs and they are only for their patients. I've done a lot of research online and asked me coworker a hundred questions.

Catmom I saw a posting recently from someone wanting to start a WLS meetup group. It was on another popular Weight loss site where you can track your foods, exercise etc. I am not sure if I can say the name here. If anyone is interested in that thread over at that site send me an email and I will send you the link. Maybe those of us down here in South Florida on Bariatric pals can let her know of our interest and she will start that meetups group. There are several hospital in our area (I am in Lantana) who do have support groups. However I do not know if they allow you to attend their support groups if their Dr didn't do your surgery. Maybe this next coming week I can call and see if they do.

Hi Everyone! I'm in West Palm Beach (Royal Palm)...sleeved 5/29/15. I was thinking of starting a MeetUp group if there's enough interest in the area that could meet once a week to talk to others who can relate, get advice, encouragement, and just to hang out. This would be open to everyone, pre and post surgery. I'm trying to get an idea of how many would be interested, so let me know. Thanks! :)

This is the person I was referring to in my earlier post. I sent her a message and told her about this bariatric pal group. So nice to see you posted here swerdygnome. I know I am interested in knowing more info and hope others are too.

Hi Jmapsyd. I also hopefully will be sleeved in Jan. I still have over 150 pounds to lose and can't wait to see great results after surgery. It has taken me over 9 years to lose the weight I have and I need to lose the remaining weight so I can have surgery to my hip and back.

Hi guys! Ok -- As promised, the MeetUp group is ready! Here's the URL: www.meetup.com/WLS-Palm-Beach-County. Please join if interested and invite anyone else you know to join. All pre and post-op friends in the area are welcome. We'll probably start with 2 meet ups a month and grow from there. Thanks and can't wait to meet you! :)

I signed up. Any day is good for me as long as I get notice far enough in advance. I work a lot of weekends but usually I can trade days with my coworkers.

Not sure if it's because I am using my cell phone and not a desktop but I can't fill out my profile for my meet up account. But I would definitely love to meet others in my area.

Hmmmm...not sure why. I changed the MeetUp name/url to this: http://www.meetup.com/WLS-SouthFlorida/

That might fix the problem, or maybe try from the desktop when you can. I hope to meet you soon!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
