I had surgery on May 11th and started my liquid pre-op diet on April 27. For me, the first 3 days were the hardest so hang in there.

Having mine June 2nd as well ! The only day I have to do liquid diet is the day before !

Each doctor has different requirements for pre op diets. I've been sleeved for 5 years. I has 2 weeks liquids and the day before I had to do a GI cleanse. I had to drink an entire gallon of that crap. Yuck.

The reasoning behind the liquids is to remove solid wastes from your intestinal tract. Plus the liquid helps to remove excess fat from your liver and spleen and if you have on the gallbladder.

If you are having problems doing the liquids. Don't cheat. Just try something different. Frozen coffee. (Freeze decaf into cubes. Add chocolate Protein and low fat milk blend). Instant Frape'. Or. Take vanilla protein add Oj. Blend with ice. Instant creamsicle.

Use your imagination. Add Peanut Butter to chocolate protein. Blend. Now you have a Reese shake. I also add yogurt and non red fruit. Liquid also means Soups, lemon, lime Jello and Gatorade. As long as it contains no red dye your fine. You all can do this. Oh and if you need a chewing sensation add more ice. Or use sugar free gum. It really helps.

My surgeon spent require it ....it is for the purpose of shrinking the liver .... I had an ultra sound to find out I have gallstones but it also showed that my liver was not enlarged at all . I will be having my gallbladder out as well . Good luck to all!

Didn't *

Some where on the web you can google it. Is a listing of all sorta of shakes and other liquid drinks for post op. I'm not a rep for any brand. But I did find powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury to have great chicken flavored Protein. As well as cheese flavor. It can be added to soups and such. When your passed the liquid stage you can add the cheese to vegs or even Quinones or low carb noodles for Mac n cheese.

Oh I also blended stuff I liked into purée. When I could. Otherwise just shakes and puddings. Simple protein puddings are easy and cheap.

3 oz dixi cups

1 box sugar free pudding. You choice of flavor

2 cups non fat milk. (6 oz protein)

2 scoops unjury unflavored protein (22 G protein)

Mix in bowl until smooth. Pour into cups chill till set. You can eat anytime. Works to about nine 2 1/2 oz cup pudding approx 9-12 grams protein each +\- depending on the milk you use.

I make these daily they really help that need for desert are small and you are not tempted to take a larger portion then you should. Works great with Jello as well. Make 2 boxes for protein pies for holidays. Use low sugar gram crust add fruit for deco.
