Beginning Weight

I just started the 3 month diet I have to be on before I have my VSG but I was wondering if I lose weight and go under the BMI of 40 will I still be eligible for the surgery. I see people getting the surgery smaller than my weight. 5'3 255 lbs, and they lose weight before the surgery. And I do want to lose weight before. Im just afraid It will stop me from getting the surgery.

I started just above a 40 bmi. I've dropped a little below that now. I'm having surgery on June-22. I'm self pay so don't know what insurance might require.
