Protein Shakes - 2 weeks post op

Recommended Posts

Someone please help! I've tried to do the Protein Shakes but they are gross. I can't stand milk. I've never liked any kind of milk, so of course it makes the Protein shakes even worse. I bought a whole case of Premier Protein shakes and I try to force myself to drink it but because I hate it so much the very thought of it makes me nauseous. Is there any advice you can give this 2 weeks post op chick?

I use Isopure unflavored Protein in Water with crystal lite flavor packet. It still tastes like water, even with stuff in it.

There are a variety of different types of Protein shakes out there. Need to experiment to find the one that you can tolerate. Getting enough Protein is important to this process. Sometimes you can get samples of a product or buy a single/small product and try these until you find one that you can tolerate.

These flavored liquid Stevia drops will change the way your average Protein shakes taste and the flavors are all natural, calorie and sugar free! So far I've tried English toffee, pumpkin spice, chocolate, cinnamon, vanilla creme, root beer and valencia orange. They made my 2 week pre-op Optifast shakes super delish. Give them a try!

Isopure also has pre-mixed fruit flavored drinks with 40g of Protein per/bottle. They are very sweet and remind me of an extra sweet gatorade or fruit punch. Most GNC's have them in their cooler and they are buy 3 get one free. The only ones I really liked were the grape and the apple melon. I still have some in my fridge I'm thinking of making them into popcicles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
