Hiatal. hernia

I am on post op day 6. My chest is so uncomfortable. Have to try and get my breathe all the time. This hernia was a total surprise. Saw Dr today and he states it will take a good 3 weeks. Still up at 12:30 due to too uncomfortable to sleep . Did anyone experience this?

Yup. And it does take time to heal. When you first get up in the morning, try drinking tepid water to "gently" wake up your tummy. Then, when you start to eat regular food, eat a few bites of very soft food to start with, you are "priming" your tummy for the harder, crunchier foods. It does help a lot. My hernia repair won't allow me to lift more than 10lbs for a year, so take it easy on yours. Try not to lift anything heavy, and easy on the bending over! Good luck to you!
