I became overweight at 10 or 11 y/o. Since high school I've tried losing weight & failed. I gave up back when I was 23 y/o & ended up in the icu for 5 days due to pneumonia & breathing problems. I lost 15 lbs during my visit, came home & continued to eat healthy with my family. But somehow I fell off the wagon a year later, oh and I never lost more weight. Until mid-August 2014 to now I have lost 45 lbs. I'm happy to have lost that much weight & not put it back on. I've been trying to eat less & slowly getting rid of my favorite soda, Dt Dr Pepper. Lol! That's my cryptonite. Some days I splurge & eat til I can't anymore. Which is part of why I am fighting for my life some days, at least I feel like that. I feel the Sleeve Gastrectomy will help to be a tool on my appetite & to help change my way of living. I am 35 y/o with a twin brother, obesity runs in our family. Being healthy is all I want for me right now. Health problems have started popping up now. Growing up I only had asthma & allergies/sinus problems. Now in these past few years, I have high blood pressure, Migraines, herniated disc in my lower back, sleep apnea, now diabetes type 2, this year I found out I have liver problems all related to my weight. It's hard seeing my health get worse. I am hoping that this is the Last year of getting bad news on my health. I'm pushing myself to be healthier & it's working.

Welcome aboard and best of luck to you! You are in a wonderful place to learn so many things. I've been here since 08/2014 and am still awaiting surgery. The further along I get, the more positive my original decision to have surgery has become. Feel free to ask questions and post replies to your heart's content. You are home.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
