Banded 8/11/03

I'm a 32 yr old mother of 2 boys. I've been big all my life and never lost any weight after either pregnancy. I'm 5'7 1/2" and 269 pounds.

I was banded on Monday, August 11, 2003. Tomorrow is my one week anniversary and I've already lost 13 lbs. So far I'm loving the band. Too bad weight loss wasn't this easy before. Soon the work will begin though! I'm excited to start exercising and watching more of the weight melt away!

I have felt really great from the beginning. My pain meds never worked and didn't do much so I learned to live with the little pain I had and get over it. I stopped taking pain meds (that didn't work) on Wed night and that was the end of that. Our neighbors and family have brought in meals this week and were surprised to see me up and about. I learned quickly not to overdo it, cause I was soooo tired that next day. I carefully drove for the first time on Saturday... nice and slow, watch for the bumps, etc.

Woo Hoo! To see the 250's again is wonderful. I kind of have a goal of 100 lbs., but that just doesn't seem like enough and it seems so unattainable right now. Losing 100 lbs. would still put me at 170 and that still seems high! But I'm going to put my best face forward and get a move on with this!

I've enjoyed the other forums I've been in and thought I would give this one a try... so far so good!

Good Luck to everyone! See you "Lighter"!

Hi Tash,

Another August bandster-baby!! Welcome to the boards, and I'm really glad to read that your recovery was quick. I'm starting to get a little nervous, so your story is very encouraging. Thanks!!
