1 week out from surgery and trouble with fluids

My sleeve was done on 3/3. I am having a super hard time slipping enough fluids. I got in 24oz yesterday. I find I am burping alot. Does anyone else burp after drinking an oz or two? I sure hope this gets better.

Burping is normal (4 months out and still do it daily) fluids are hard in the beginning. Keep at it it will get better as time passes.

Yep your burps are normal, I had cramping as a bonus every time I took a sip. :P I found that icy cold Crystal Light lemonade was the drink I could tolerate the easiest. I don't remember my doc setting a fluid goal each day, but I did sip as much as I could and kept a 32oz mug on my desk. And I took a sip every time I looked at it. I figured as long as I felt okay, I was getting in enough fluids. I think your doc's or NUT's recommended fluid intake is a goal to shoot for and build up to. It's very tough to get in fluid or food for the 1st couple of weeks post-op.

You're doing fine. The burping is normal. It takes a while to work up to meeting protein & fluid goals In a week or 2 you should be there.

I had my surgery March 3rd as well! I'm also having a hard time with fluids. So far I've got in my 48 ozs every day but it's a challenge. Also I'm so tired of sweet stuff. My tastes are defiantly changing! I will be glad not to feel so weak. I think I could nap 20 times a day. Good luck!
