Another Newbie

Hello. I'm Michelle, 36yo from Nashville.

I've been thinking about the band for years and tried 5 years ago through my insurance company but they said no. I got a new job and tried through my current insurance and they said no, so now I've decided to self pay.

I have my appointment with Dr. Olsen at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville this Thursday June 7th and my appointment with their psychologist the following Thursday.

I am very excited. I've waited a long time for this. My co-workers and family are very excited for me. My husband is extremely supportive. We married when I was over weight and he always said the weight never bothered him but if it bothers me then he supports me in my decision.

I was always bigger than other kids growing up, taller and fatter. Even in High School I was bigger even though I played basketball and ran track. I fell into the trap of thinking I was huge when the other girls would wear smalls and I'd wear an extra large. Looking back now, I see that in High School I was the perfect weight (muscle weights more than fat.) but now as an adult, I'm obese. 335 pounds.

I want to do this not only for me but for my husband because I want to live a long life with him. Thursday can't get here fast enought - that is the day when my surgery date will be set!

It was such a good decision for me.

You sound like the type who is determined .

You do need determination with the band.

The fears I had ... never get to eat good stufff or eat at my fav restaurant was totally untrue.

Best wishes,

edie
