Barretts Esophagus on EGD

I am almost completed with my 6 month pre-op requirements. Today I received my EGD results...positive for Barretts Esophagus. My surgeon said the sleeve was no longer a good option for me as it could make my esophagus worse & that I should consider a RNY instead. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

  • I am hoping too. My surgeon said I should be able to gradually come off my omeprozole which I have to take twice a day. Crazy thing is I rarely had noticeable acid reflux.

I am pre barretts and my doctor told me rny will help a lot... That's the reason I am having the surgery more than anything. Everything else is a plus

Was told by the surgeon today that RNY should clear it up :-) Bonus!
