Finding physicians..?

Hello! I was wondering if anyone that has had/is going to have their procedure done outside of the U.S. has heard of physicians refusing to treat patients? It seems like that's been the response when I tell people I am going out of the country for my surgery they tell me that I won't be able to find a doctor to treat me when I return, should a complication arise.

Is this true? To me it seems like a violation of the Hippocratic oath, just wondering if anyone else had gotten that kind of reaction...?

I informed my regular doctor and she had no issues ordering bloodwork for me and doing follow up post-op. Had I had any major complications, I am sure she would have referred me to a local specialist.
