How long will I be down and out?

Just wondering.......

I am a stay at home mom. I only have a teenager left in my house. How long will I be down? Will I want to go out to my daughters basketball games? Will I be able to make dinner for my family? Go to the grocery store? What kind of time frame am I looking at? Also....what has been your experience with getting back to driving? Thanks in advance!

I was fine after all the gas left my body...its trapped and is very painful unless you walk walk and walk more.10 days before my dr let me drive. As far as cooking i would say give yourself a couple days once you get home so you can see how your gonna handle food dumping??? I'm having an issue with eating to fast. I'm 3 weeks post op so I'm still learning. Good luck

I have not been able to go out in about longer than about 45 minutes. I get anxiety and exhausted around that 45 minute mark. I think everyone is very different.

It was about two weeks before I felt like driving and running errands, but I had a total hysterectomy one month before my gastric bypass, and I think that has made a difference in my recovery time.

I didn't take any pain meds when I got home, so I drove after 48 hours . I felt fine to run errands, get prescriptions, walk the dog . I ate protein drinks so not too much cooking, and if you have to precook some meals. It depends on our mind set. It you think you can you can. Take a nap, walk, drink your liquids and you will be fine. You will be fine watching a ball game, bring a stadium seat, and your protein drink and all is well.
