I was just sleeved on 12/15. I don't know why I didn't think that this would be a problem, probably because I Was so excited. Anyway, the first day I couldn't even tolerate water. I was on an IV for two days, then I was fine. They gave me everything under the sun for nausea. It turned out that my IV was bad. The medication and fluids were infusing into the tissues instead of the vein. So, my friend that works in the ER where I was at came up and put the IV in my boob! Really! It was the only vein available and it was large. My arm where my old IV was swelled a little and I had some chills. After my new IV was put in, I was feeling better in about an hour. I started urinating more and was no longer nauseated. So, some advice for future for those of you who are having WLS and have post op nausea that is out of control, have the nurse check your IV. I have been a nurse for 22 years and I have never seen an IV infiltrate like that. Usually there is severe swelling, redness and pain. Now I'm worried about constipation. Any advice? I'm not constipated yet, but I don't want to even go there!
