Hi

Just wanted to introduce myself as I am new to this forum as of today. I'm happy to be here and look forward to meeting people who understand all the ins and outs of bariatric surgery. I just began the process for a gastric bypass about 1 1/2 months ago. On December 4 I have appointments with the nutritionist and P.A. My appointment for psych evaluation is on January 23. I am very excited but at the same time very nervous. I realize what a major surgery this is. Even more so for me because I had a nissenfundoplication last September. My surgeon, Dr. Varban, who is out of University of Michigan Hospital, has to take the wrap down and then do the gastric bypass. Both will be done at the same time. He explained to me that my surgery will be more complex and will be more risky. But, the advantages still outway the disadvantages. If there is anyone who has had a nissen then decided to have a gastric bypass please let me know what your experience was like. I welcome any advise, suggestions etc. Thanks everybody!

Hi Moxy28. I'm new here also. Just recently joined. Nice to meet you here. I had my first appointment with a bariatric consultant October 29th. We discussed weight loss surgeries and I told him I lean towards the sleeve and bypass over the band and asked to be considered for those. I see the dietitian on November 28th and my own psych on Dec 4 to discuss whether he is happy for me to go ahead with the weight loss surgery. If I get the go ahead I'll have to wait for the multi disciplinary team to meet and discuss my case so a decision can be made. I have now decided that I would like the gastric bypass and have been researching on YouTube, sites and now this forum; where I've already found suggested literature to read. I hope you find what you are looking for here. All the best.

hi there. My surgery is set for December 1. I went into the process thinking I would do gastric sleeve but ended up switching to gastric bypass after much research. My doctor let me get there on my own but in the end he told me

he was glad I chose gastric bypass over sleeve. I am VERY nervous and I know that as the day draws nearer I will be

beside myself with anxiety.
