  1. Just wanted to introduce myself as I am new to this forum as of today. I'm happy to be here and look forward to meeting people who understand all the ins and outs of bariatric surgery. I just began the process for a gastric bypass about 1 1/2 months ago. On December 4 I have appointments with the nutritionist and P.A. My appointment for psych evaluation is on January 23. I am very excited but at the same time very nervous. I realize what a major surgery this is. Even more so for me because I had a nissenfundoplication last September. My surgeon, Dr. Varban, who is out of University of Michigan Hospital, has to take the wrap down and then do the gastric bypass. Both will be done at the same time. He explained to me that my surgery will be more complex and will be more risky. But, the advantages still outway the disadvantages. If there is anyone who has had a nissen then decided to have a gastric bypass please let me know what your experience was like. I welcome any advise, suggestions etc. Thanks everybody!
