Too much protein?

Anybody ever been told to ease up on Protein?

My aftercare says I need 60-90 grams, and I tend to get closer to 120 using Isopure shakes even just 1 week after surgery.

I take in close to 100oz of fluids a day...

Any thoughts?

I would check with your bariatric team. Higher protein may be fine since you are newly banded. I know that excessive protein can cause kidney stones etc....but the protein grams would be super high and I doubt you could exceed once you are on solid food. You are drinking lots of water which is very important.

I have not heard of anyone that was banded of to much protein , but one of my friends went to the hospital because of to much protein his protein levels were very high..

I asked about this at my post op appointment. Too much protein can damage your kidneys. 60 grams is what do shoot for... I have found yellow pea protein... low in fat and carbs, 20 g protein... and it does well in my hot coffee. Doesn't lump up. That is breakfast and snack.. then I eat regular small meals for lunch and dinner... feel satisfied.
