What size is your sleeve?

My surgeon told me that he removed 85% of my stomach, and what used to be the size of my two fists is now the size of my thumb. He said he used a 38 French??? Doesn't some surgeons use much smaller than that? Like a 32? I guess mine is the right size for me cause I still can only eat 1-2 Tbls per meal..if that. Can't imagine if it were smaller.

  • I have no earthly idea. And really I don't care. I'm still losing weight, that's all that matters.

  • What size is your sleeve? Well.....last time I looked in there it seemed to be about a blah blah blah...... I have no idea. My Doc could tell me he used a Filipino 36-24-36 and I wouldn't know

36fr. The size difference between a 32fr and a 40fr is negligible. There is a picture guide around, if you care to google (use bougie size as your keyword). Mine, according to that chart, is roughly

Just found out that my surgeon used a 42fr bougie....and the restriction is pretty good!!!! Can't have anything over 3-4 ounces...

All of those male surgeons will tell you that size doesn't matter. ????????

Mine used a 40fr bougie. He said that's all he does now for all his patients.

Mine was a 32f. I had my surgery July 4th (one week tomorrow) and I've lost near 20 pounds (30 counting the one week Preop diet) and I can actually drink a lot more fluids than I thought. Mine was also oversewn. I know some people say it doesn't make a difference but to me it did. I paid out of pocket though I have insurance and bougie size played a part in my decision to self pay. I wanted the most restriction even if only as a placebo. I guess I will know more in a month or so. For me, it was either the smallest possible sleeve or go with bypass.

Started at 255 before Preop diet.
