in two days into my post op.

I am only two days in. I don't have much pain only when I,turn the wrong way. I had a hiatal hernia that was fixed as well. I'm not really hungry but I can hear my intestine moving or growling. When should I start the protein shake again?

Did your surgeon give you instructions about when to start with protein shakes? I started mine the day after surgery because my surgeon told me to. Every practice has different guidelines for post-op progression of eating and drinking - be sure to check on yours.

I also had a hiatal hernia repaired and at almost 2 weeks post op I still don't really get hungry. Just met with the NUT yesterday and she said to try to "eat" every 3-4 hours. As for when to start protein shakes -- I was clear liquids the day after surgery and protein shakes the next day but every doctor has a different plan. I think the progression is mostly to check what you can tolerate without dumping or sickness.

I had my last visit today pre-op...went over all that stuff...my NUT told me the 3 most important things post op is Water, Protein and walking...pretty much in that order...I am going into this dehydrated already...so from now until my surgery on the 24 Doc told me to drown myself in water and cranberry juice to prevent any kidney issues.

drinking water is going to be my challenge!! <-- being the most important factor post op
