Weight loss

I am so frustrated with my sleeve. I had my surgery the last week in January 2013. I have lost zero pounds. I was told by my doctor it would be 3-4 months before seeing a restriction. I was also told I am not losing because I lost 75 pounds with my band. I was told not eating enough. I think I am just now seeing a restriction. I am now doing weight training, have a personal trainer and doing weights three times a week. I am not doing much cardio. I keep my calories at a 1000 or less. I do get my proteins in everyday and most days my water. I have wished for my band back. I had to have it removed because of leaks. Please help!!

Yes but when the band has good restriction, it's hard for some people to digest protein

I think the shocker is how little food I need to maintain good health. If i eat anything close to what most consider normal...I gain. So i mostly eat protein and veggies. Some berries and avacado but overall very little fruit due to the sugars.

I am not maintaining good health right now, which is actually a shock to me. My vitamins and minerals are out of wack! I have to remove soy, add sodium. Add red meat, and wheat back into my diet and additional vitamins! We are not sure this is entirely due to the band yet though.

  • 4 weeks later...

. I am three weeks post sleeve surgery and I am very disappointed I have not lost more weight. I lost 17 pounds the 1 st week but nothing after that. I am also surprised that I can eat 1 cup of food.

I lost more with my band.

Hulahan- the average healthy weight loss is 2-3 pounds a week. The fact that you lost 17 in one week is great but its only natural for your body to stop & catch up. It might take 5 or 6 weeks for you to start losing again. Don't lose hope ☺

1 cup capacity is too.much at 3 weeks according to my surgeon and nut. Nerves are cut and take 6-8 weeks to heal. I was advised to measure and eat by the clock not hunger those first 2 months. My restriction improved with time.

Having said that the sleeve is not as tight of restriction as the band. Less likely to not tolerate or food.
