Preop diet and working

Ok, so I am a respiratory therapist.

I work 12 hour night shifts.

I requested to be low census from work tonight and I guess I am looking for someone to tell me that its ok. I'm a pretty tough cookie and can handle most anything. I have 6 kids from ages 4-17 and only 1 actually came from my body. Lol I have adopted 2 and the rest are foster kids. I just really don't want to deal with running around a hospital all night taking care of patients and and saving lives on my second day of clear liquid diet. I am off work after tonight till my surgery. My surgery is scheduled for Thursday the 23rd.

I kinda feel like i have to prove to the universe that I am worthy to have the surgery and that I'm strong and can handle it. I know it's kinda silly.....

You do what you need to do. With 6 kids I applaud you that you can get out of bed! And to be a RT, you are super woman. It's time for you to take the time for you. We women always feel like we have to be perfect and everything is up to us. I know I put alot of pressure and blame on myself. Take the time you need now cause you deserve it and if you this much of a powerhouse now, there will be no stopping you one you drop the pounds

@@jes76 - I think you're going to do great! Just treat yourself like you'd treat one of your patients (a GOOD patient) and give yourself time to adjust to each phase. Good luck on Thursday and let us know how you're doing after surgery!
