Hello group,

I had a few questions. I am currently at 240 lbs. I am looking to lose about 80. I was wondering if there is going to be a lot of extra skin when the weight comes off? Will weight come off everywhere? I went a week and a day ago to talk to us surgeon to make a date for surgery. I originally wanted the sleeve but since I have a huge hernia, the thinks the bypass is the best choice. I just found out my date is Oct. 30. Waiting for insurance to approve to make preop appt. Little bummed it's a day before Halloween because I won't be able to go with my kids but they are totally fine with going with my husband/their dad. Sorry this post is so scattered. I'm just so anxious now. Also, what did everyone find to be the best Protein shake. I heard Shakeology and GNC lean were really good. TYIA! ????

Hi, it is a really tough call to say if there will be a lot of excess skin. So much of that depends on your age, how many times you have lost and gained previously, how much you plan to exercise post-op, etc. The younger you are, the more likely it is that you will not have as much excess skin.

That is sad that you won't be able to go trick or treating with your kids, but great that they understand that it is because mom is doing something that will benefit all of you in the long run. Just have your hubby take lots of pictures and video for you to look at and watch with them later.

As for Protein shakes, goodness, I had a tough time finding pre-made ones I like. I mostly make my own. But, I do like the WonderSlim ones that I ordered from Bariatric Choice. I have found a lot of things on their website I really like.

It really depends on a lot of factors about having excess skin. Your age, how much you work out, genetics.

For Protein shakes I make my own using Jay Robb whey Protein powder. It comes in chocolate, vanilla, strawberry and tropical. You can get sample packs from the company to try.

I also use in my Protein drinks Torani sugar free syrups to add different flavors to them.

I also use PB2 Peanut Butter powder or PB2 chocolate Peanut Butter powder. It has great flavor and adds extra Protein to your shake.

Before using the Torani or PB2 ask your nutritionist if they are okay to use in the early stages for you.

I don't think they will say no but each nutritionist is different about what they allow.

Good luck with your surgery and a healthier you.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
