I am allergic to medical tapes and bandages. They create huge, red welts which usually end up being worse than whatever I'm trying to cover up. I've tried several different kinds and when I had a biopsy in 2011, I was told the tape they used would not cause a reaction and it did. Anyone else have a bandage allergy but do okay with what they use to put over the incisions for your bariatric surgery?

I'm allergic to adhesives too. It's horrible! I had my gallbladder out and the surgical glue didn't bother me. They used almost no tape over the bandages just placed them (they used 2 small piece near my belly button incision) which they removed a few hours later. Just stress how important it is to find other methods to cover wounds. I've even used the tape they use in the NICU that's supposed to be gentle-still was bad!

I am allergic also the welts are just going away yesterday is the first I have not had to use Meds on all the welts, that is two weeks.
