Port/scar area knot

I was banded on 4/19, and have had little to no pain or discomfort almost from the beginning. Yesterday, I noticed a "knot" about 1.5" wide and maybe 2" long radiating out to the left from the main scar in my stomach - it feels like it's attached to what I thought was my port. It moves around a bit, and is tender (probably because I keep poking at it :nervous ), but not overly painful. I'm a bit whigged out about it. Any advice?

Hmmm, not sure what that would be... I was banded 4/27 and I have a hard lump kind of long and narrow where my port it. I'm guessing it's my port that I'm feeling plus the swelling. I haven't tried to move it - too scared!! It's still tender.

It is your port...I was so scared when I felt that...I called the doctors office and talked to the nurse....I thought something had ruptured...she laughed and laughed....and said , "Honey, that is your port"...I get really wigged out over all of this...I am so scared of doing something wrong...I just need to relax and enjoy the band...

I wouldn't worry about it. I had the same large lump that formed under my largest incision. I immediately went to get checked out. My doc said that was the only place where they cut through muscle tissue and that it was common to have a lot of scar tissue form there. It could take weeks to go down! I am about 5 weeks out and mine is just now shrinking. But it does feel weird, so I understand why you're freaked out.

Hope that helps!:clap2:

Thanks for all the responses. I'm self pay, and I live in Hong Kong - that all matters because my doctor over here charges a small fortune for any visit, so I'm really hoping to put off a visit till I'm ready for my first fill. I've been trying to convince myself it's just the port, but I just didn't understand why I didn't feel it before, and why all of a sudden it's become tender (and why it feels so big). I really do feel better now that I've heard from you all. Many thanks.

You wouldn't have felt it earlier, due to swelling in stomach ...now that the swelling is going down, you can feel the port....once you start to lose the weight you will be able to feel it even more.....

Hope this helps...I know how you feel...I was so scared....
