African American vsgers!

  • Popular Post

Hey guys I saw a thread from 2011 that I wanted to continue. I love all of my vsgers but as we know african american women tend to carry weight differently. I would love to follow you ladies on your journey and for us all to support each other.

I was sleeved on September 5th so I'm a week out. I'm doing good so far and feeling better everyday. I stayed at the hospital 3 days mostly because they discovered my allergy to morphine while I was on the pump with a fever and my entire body on fire. But I'm home now and much better. I was just moved to the full liquids stage so I'm pretty happy considering that the liquids stage made me nauseous. I've lost 24 lbs since my surgery so any pain I have is over shadowed by my joy.

Looking forward to hearing from you ladies and seeing some progress pics!

Congrats on your surgery . Yes i think u should walk , but I doubt u will be able to walk so far. I tried and almost passed out , I was so short of breath from the surgery . Take it easy, once u hit week two then u can do alot more .

Agree, take it slow and easy the first week. I have been able to pick up my exercise considerably in week 3,and actually I started my Zumba fitness classes again in week 2. Congrats on your surgery!

I was just sleeved on 4/6/15 and I'm having a hard time getting my Protein in because of the hiatal hernia repair and staying hungry all the time

Hey, I missed your post. How are you doing? Are you on a PPI for acid? It sometimes masquerades as hunger. Just sip, sip, sip. Work up to getting all your protein in, it's important to your healing and overall health.

Hi all!!! My WLS is May 14 2015

I'm so excited!!! I start my liquid diet May 1. I need some advice..I need a diary free shake? Any ideas or advice???

Many like the Isopure protein waters.

As others have mentioned, if you feel up to it, walk. Just listen to your body and rest when needed.

Hi Blerdgirl I'm still working at this new concept, but now that I can have a little something I can not keep it down so the doc put me back to clear liquids for 3 more wks

Take it easy and go slow. You'll get there.

Mind over matter. That was the hardest part for me pre-surgery. But oh boy, was it easier after....the first two weeks after I was miserable and started to regret the surgery but once I got adjusted to my sleeve and found out that pain was a great motivator things got simple for me. Good nutrition = no pain. Bad food = PAIN.

10 mos out and despite a slow in loss, so long as I stick to nutritious whole foods or barely processed nutritious foods, I am a-ok.

Good luck to you! Good health to all!

Hey everyone! It's been a while since I've been on here. I've been working 14 hour days since Jan (when I was only 6 weeks post-op). So I've been a bit MIA. I hope everyone is progressing well and I wish you continued success on this life-long journey.

Thanks everyone for shedding some light .. ;/) I haven't posted because I've been just WEAK!! And my stomach has been sooo tender from the inside !! Now I have a fever of100.9 !! I'm so scared!! Because NOBODY!! I MEAN NOBODY KNOWS I HAVE GOTTEN THIS DONE!! I was advised to go to the hospital but all jokes aside EVERYBODY KNOWS ME !;-(. So I'm thinking about riding to the next town and go in ... In the Am!!! Please say a prayer for me!! I'm a nervous wreck... Thanks guys in advance

Lessofme, I am wishing you the best. Go straight to the doctor even if its in your town. Someone will find out eventually and that's fine. Do the safest thing. Get us posted.

Hey all...just popping in to see how everyone is doing. Sleeved life is progressing nicely. I am down 100 lbs so far (21 lbs in pre-op diet/79 lbs since surgery on 11/20/14). I am so grateful for my sleeve. I've been doing moderate workouts and I am ready to kick things up a notch. I hope everyone is well!

Good luck, jennafah!

Hi everyone! I just found this forum. I was sleeved 4/6. I've lost 40lbs so far (15 from my two week pre-op diet). I still have 110 lbs to go, so I know it will be a long journey but worth the effort. I just started soft foods today (thank Goodness!). I'm 5'8, female, and from Maryland. I love reading these posts, especially those 5-6 months out. I can't wait to be there, too!

Congrats on your decision @rp1980. Wishing you success on your journey!
