1 appmt down, 2 to go!

Had my first appointment with the bariatric clinic today. Met the psychologist, nutritionist, nurse practitioner and had blood drawn for labs. Everything is a go so far.

Next Tuesday, I'll have the EGD, chest x-rays and EKG. Later that afternoon, I'll visit my primary care doc to get his sign off on the medical clearance form thingy they gave me.

Then the actual consult with the surgeon, and a couple weeks to wait while it's been submitted to insurance and ever how long it takes them to respond.

So, probably surgery in mid- to late-October is realistic. I might even go for the Monday before Veterans Day in November. Give me a little extra time off before going back to work that way.

Im excited it's within reach, but DANG I'm not a patient person and it's hrs to wait!

I am so excited to be reading all your posts! Now, I don't feel so along. I have also just started my journey and want my sleeve done as soon as possible (if insurance approves me). I have Medicare and NJ BC BS Horizon. Have met with Dietitian, next week is Upper G.I, Chest x-ray and blood work. The following week is Dietitian, Psychology & Group Session. The 4th week in Sept. is my PC Physician. Also have met w/ Cardiologist and he gave me a thumbs up. I am just praying insurance does not deny me. Good luck to all who are waiting also.

I finished all those requirements and am now on the pre op diet for surgery next week. At the time, i thought I would go crazy waiting between all the appts and tests! Then my lab work showed extreme anemia so I had to wait a month while supplements raised my iron level. More waiting! But looking back now, it seems like it has gotten here so fast! Now I am struggling with doubt... Is this the right move? But I know in my heart it is my best option. I am informed, prepared, and I have a great doctor. So take it one step at a time. It really will be your time in the blink of an eye! God bless us all and congratulations!
