Ok so I am trying to decide on when to have my sleeve surgery...do I do it now or wait for the new year. SOOOO....how was your healing process?? Like I am 5'4 and weigh. So I assume the heavier you start the longer the healing process..Also what was it like afterwards..back at home. I am a companion to a gentleman with developmental delays..No heavy work..just some driving here and there..and visiting..Anyone on here from Edmonton Alberta??

Nothing stopped me from having my sleeve ASAP. I was ready right after I received my insurance approval and surgery date.

I don't believe weight has anything to do with the healing process. We all are different. So each persons healing will vary.

I was lucky. I bounced back quickly. Your Dr. will let you know what your limitations are after surgery. The day I was released from the hospital I used a pillow on my tummy to stop the pressure and rubbing from the seat belt. Took me a few days before I could drive.

My question is.............What are you waiting for?

Thanks for your response Jenn.. I am waiting because I am paying out of pocket. So I want to make sure my funds are good and ready. I also need to make sure my client has coverage for when I am unable to be with him. Does everyone bring someone with them?

That is also something I would need to figure out. Who can and will come with me.

My husband and neighbor, who is a good friend, were there the day of surgery and my cousin drove me home. I was not able to drive for a week after surgery. I was still on the pain medication and my cousin was driving me around in my vehicle. I was able to get back in the pool to exercise two weeks out and was back to work in three weeks. I work in an office so it isn't a physically demanding job. I hit a period a couple of months out where I tired easily and felt exhausted all the time. I don't know if it was a delayed reaction or what.

That was my experience.

I'm 47 and 5'6". I had 90-100 pounds to lose, was sleeved last October and am now in maintenance. Personally, I wouldn't wait to get on the road to healthy! If I could have done it the day I first made the decision it wouldn't have been soon enough for me, but I was made to wait 6 months as an insurance requirement :-(

I was only in the hospital overnight, never took narcotic pain meds and was back at my desk job the next week. I was VERY lucky, had zero complications and recovered very quickly. That said, some take longer than others and have a more difficult time. Plan for the worst and hope for the best with your procedure.
