I am wanting to have the sleeve operation. My doctor made a referral to the bariatric team at our city hospital and I had an appointment with the bariatric nurse. She said I wouldn't be considered until I showed them I could lose some weight independently. So I was told to lose 22 kg (48 pounds) in 4 months and I'd be enrolled on the program. I lost 24kg (52 pounds) and was told great now keep losing!! WHAT????? I'm disheartened, depressed and have put back on 8kg (17 pounds).

It's as if they've moved the goalposts. I'm on Optifast at the moment. Anyone else on this?

What is optifast? I'm having trouble losing weight as well?

I am really sorry that happened to you. It is a big enough step that we take when we reach out for help anyhow. And then to have that happen is very disheartening. I had a friend who needed to gain weight before they would do the surgery as well. SMH. THAT does not make any sense to me whatsoever. Hang in there. Do your best. That is all any of us can do.
