Failure?

I'm 8 days post-op. I started mushies yesterday. Today at lunch, I had some non-mushies food, like rice and chips and a taquito. I just made sure to chew to pulverization so that it was basically puréed.

I feel really guilty. I wanted so badly to follow my doctor's instructions to the letter. I feel like a failure.

Your not a failure, but you have to stick to the rules especially this early out, your not completely healed and have a ways to go. You got this !! Good luck on your journey !

It's done. Start over. Let the guilt go but use it as a learning experience. You can't have those things right now. Period. Your body is still healing and chips can be quite jagged and sharp and can do some damage, even if you think you've chewed them well. Just forget about what you did and try to do better going forward. Your body is healing for quite some time. It is hard to follow for a while, and quite dull frankly. But it is a must. I think you might want to try some of the Unjury protein that might have some flavor to satisfy some of the savory flavors.

I agree with the other comments - you blew it for one day but that doesn't mean you're a failure - just get right on the program again. You absolutely MUST stick to the program so you don't damage your new anatomy - I hear horror stories of people damaging their new stoma by eating forbidden foods and having to have more surgery to fix it!

I craved real food so badly too - but you have to be kind to yourself - mushies only :) Good luck!
