Pre Op and Nervous

Hi Everyone!

I am on my way to a healthier lifestyle by choosing to have the Gastric Sleeve procedure done. I am scheduled to have surgery on August 15th 2014, my BIRTHDAY of all days. I have dubbed it my re-birthday. :D

I have some anxiety as whether I have chosen the right procedure for me. My surgeon gave the option of choosing the Sleeve or Bi Pass. If there is any information or stories that you could share with me... please feel free to do so.

Much appreciation in advance.

I love it, your re-birthday!

There is a lot of information out there comparing the types of surgeries, and I'm sure someone will point you to the "best" places to look... I'm not up on that stuff.

I chose the sleeve because it seemed to be less traumatic to the body. I just wasn't comfortable with the idea of the bypass. That's a personal thing. I know people who have had the bypass and been very successful. I originally was planning on the band because I thought it was the least invasive, but changed my mind after comparing the amount of after care (fills, etc) required.

The important question is, why did YOU pick the sleeve? Everyone has their own reasons. You will lose the weight whichever you choose if you follow the rules your surgeon's team sets out for you. If you're still unsure about your choice, read people's posts on each of the surgery-specific forums. Read a LOT. I forced myself to read everything for weeks, from success stories to complications stories. Eventually you will be as well-versed as possible, and hopefully that will make you more confident in your decision.
