Abdominal Swelling Post Op

Will there be any abdominal swelling after a VSG? If so, how long did the swelling last?

I had plenty of swelling. I looked like I was pregnant for about a week and it was a good 2-3 weeks before I could comfortably wear my jeans. Loose elastic waisted pants were a must.

i had significant swelling as well. the elastic band shorts i wore in to the hospital were snug on the way out. for me there was also the CO2 gas that they use during laproscopic surgery. it took a few days for that to dissipate.

i felt like on day 4-5 i was totally clear of the CO2 and around day 8 when most of the swelling was under control. the worst part of the swelling was that it made it VERY painful to side sleep for the first week.
