Post-op Hiccups

So I had my surgery yesterday morning and today I've had two bouts of horrible hiccups. The only trick that's ever worked for me is to guzzle water but obviously that's out. This happen to anyone else? Any cures???

me too. it's likely related to true muscle spasms in the gut plus the stimulation of the vagus nerve. i just waited it out. i had a bad run in the hospital and they gave me some IV muscle relaxant to stop them. i'm 9 days out now and they are completely gone at this point.

Thank you!

I had asked my dr about it before released after surgery and he told me to avoid hot and cold temps as they can trigger the hiccups. I stopped eating ice, sipping warm soups, etc...

It does pass. I had horrible hiccups after mine. Good luck !

My surgery is 4 months go and I have had them incontrollably!!
