When is "day one"?

I'm confused with the post-op diet. Is day one the day of surgery, or does it begin the day after?

    So week one begins not a week after surgery, but the eight day?

    I left the hospital in the full liquid stage and had to do a full 2 weeks on that from the day I left the hospital. So I guess my day 1 was the day I was discharged.
