Pre-op clear liquid diet

My surgery date is July 7. I am starting my preop diet on June 30. almost everything I read says that high protein (shakes) are good way to shrink your liver, but my doctor requires clear liquids only for an entire week. NO PROTEIN! Anyone else do clear liquids only for pre-op?

My surgeon requires clear liquid as well. The higher your BMI, the more your liver needs to shrink. Hang in there! You can do this!

My surgery has been moved up from July 28, to July 8th. My surgeon require clear liquids for 1 day only before surgery. I am very lucky since i'm reading that some folks are needing a clear liquid diet for 2 weeks or more. Good luck and keep us posted on your results and journey to this new life.

Ask your surgeon what they consider clear liquids so you know exactly what to have.

When I had surgery had to do two weeks of only protein shakes.

I had also lost more then they required me to so that's one of the reasons I didn't have to do clear liquids before hand.

Good luck you'll be fine.
