I had my surgery June 18th everthing went great. Came home on Friday and havent had to take any pain meds since Ive been home. sunday came around and i woke up feeling yucky....i had not had a BM since the monday before my surgery....long story short I had an enema done on Monday at the drs office then given a bag of iv fluids. that night I became so hungry and the hunger hasnt stopped. today is day 6 post op and I ate some beef stew potatoes and rice and it hurt my stomach so bad. i scared myself right back into my liquid diet but im afraid i may have hurt myself. Hello, so sorry you are having troubles. I was sleeved on May 16 and I was not ready for any type of solid food at 6 days. (I'm just now almost 6 weeks out and barely ready for solid foods). I didn't even try mashed potatoes until the 3rd or 4 week. You need to stay on liquids - but not Clear Liquids. Clear liquids do not satisfy your hunger. They just provide fluids for you. I drank a Protein shake each day. Ensure High Protein shakes (available at your regular grocery store). I like the milk chocolate best. It's so very yummy! I drank 1/2 shake at a time because these are 16 oz. shakes. But, also, I made onion Soup, potato soup, chicken noodle soup, and put them all in the blender so no chunks were left at all. Chunks are what will hurt your stomach at this point. The taste is completely normal for these items and they satisfy your hunger. I lived on these Soups and protein shakes for 2 full weeks, and I can honestly say I was not hungry....or should I say I got hungry only when it was time to eat again, which was every 2 hours. I only ate 3-4 bites worth at a time, which was about 1/4 cup. But, that's all I wanted and it definitely satisfied my hunger. When I got hungry again, I ate more soup or drank a portion of another Protein Shake.

Hang in there! The worst is over! Hope this helps!!!

May 30 first 2 weeks on broth and cream soups and surger fee Popsicles was not hungry .

Last 3 days hungry it does not stop .. Sad I thought it would stay away .. Went from 357 to 328 in a couple weeks and now just sitting and my cal count is 500-650 a day :) should be dropping pounds like crazy I would think and I do about a hr on the elliptical :(

Mnkj719416 Hope you're doing better by now? I was also sleeved 6/18 and went through the same extreme hunger feeling till FINALLY it subsided. I was clear liquids only until day 5, now full liquids for 2 weeks. I agree with what someone said, it's much better when you get to " full liquids". I also feel like our bodies take a while to "convert" to liquids only. Anyway please update me on how you're feeling.

Im feeling better......soooo over the liquids....lol. I still crave food like crazy and everything smells great. I just thought my desire for food wouldnt be so strong this early on. im supposed to stay on full liquids for another 5 days....i hope make it.....weight loss has be slower then i hoped too. 9lbs since surgery. Hope things start moving along a little faster soon

Well I've only lost 7 since our surgery date, if that puts it in perspective. I know what you mean about food lust. Meanwhile my hubby is scheduled for sleeve next week and is currently having all his "food funerals"...having to see it and smell it all is TORTURE.

mmmm food funerals...that was fun. I had to do a 2 week liquid diet before my surgery though. my sister is having a sleeve done next Wednesday and shes been on a liquid diet for the past month

2 weeks, or wow, a month(!) on liquid pre op..That's a major accomplishment all in itself. I guess that's one area where I lucked out. I had to do a program to lose 10% to qualify, but only had to do one day liquids pre-op. Is your sister on here? That's awesome, to go through it together. Maybe I can get my sis on board one day.

yeah I just had her signed up last night. I have another sister who did it in Feb 2014 too. its been a process we all started since sept of last year.

I had my sleeve done last November and the first month is long but as you settle in to the sleeve and get used to eating very small portions you can eat almost anything. If I want something very bad I will take a bite and be done with it . but I tend to eat normal foods now just waaaaayyyy less. Just one thing about me when I went into this I new I would not follow the sugar free diet but I am learning to choose healthier options and I'm down 68 lbs now and have about 15 to 20 lbs more to go. I feel much better now and that was my ultimate goal. So hang in there and take it one day at a time for now. Try and stick to the full liquids then the pureed foods and then the soft foods for as long as necessary so things heal properly you have the rest of your life to eat food in its normal texture. Welcome to the losers bench. Lynnette

Hello hope all is well I understand I won't mash potatoes I was on clear liq. Diet for 2wks before sleeved on June 18 and 3weeks more of clear liq.diet on Monday I weighed in lost 13pds and before lost 22pds good luck

I have read on here that sometimes hunger is really acid pain disguised. Other posters have mentioned an OTC acid reducer - maybe that's an option?
