Hey guys! Sleeved June 19, surgery went well. In and out of the hospital in 2 days. 4 days PO and all I've been dealing with is the rumbling/gurgles of my stomach. Is this normal? It's typically all of the time, but especially after I drink something. I have definitely been struggling to get all the fluids in, but it has been getting better each day. My surgeon has me on Clear liquids 5 days PO and then on to full liquids. Can anyone suggest what they drank/ate at this phase? I can tolerate SF Jello and Popsicles and that's about it, I would like to try some broths but anything that I even smell turns my stomach. Also (sorry for all the questions) I know we are supposed to avoid citric fruits PO, however I am finding that a lot of the G2 drinks and Popsicles have citric acid in them, is it alright to still be eating/drinking them?

And finally as far as BMs sorry I know tmi, but all mine have been completely liquid and at least 3-5 times a day, again normal or should I be worried?

This journey is far from the easy way out and I wish the people who thought that could go through a day or two of what it actually feels like. But I know that this is the best decision I've made my entire life and I'm so excited to see how much I'll lose and how healthy I can get!

Thanks for all your infor. And help!

Shelby :)

You know what..There is no need to be sorry for asking questions on this forum. That is what we are here for....okay!

Secondly, Seems to me that you are right on target. Everything you are feeling is normal for where you are in your journey. DO NOT stop drinking the G2 okay. It hydrates your system plus keeps your electrolytes up so you don't end up in the hospital with an IV. :)

Diarrhea normal at this stage. Lots of meds coming out of the body still and that is the way it is removed.

Do me a favor...Stay off the scale for a bit..At least 2 more weeks....Then only weigh in once a week if you must...All your going through is hard on your body and it is trying to protect itself from the trauma.

Also on another note I thank you for this a little TMI .I'm barely starting my journey and this is the stuff that will make it all that easier to know what to expect and not be worried when it happens. This is what this place was created for and I thank the creators deeply as I have gotten so much from here from insurance questions to what to expect before during and after. Thanks one again and that's for the reply as well. Much luck to you both!!!

Im 4 days post op and having the same gurgling in my tummy but I think mine is due to the sugar free Jello. I think the aspatamine in it is messing me up so I am going to cut back on that. Gatorade goes down much easier for me than Water. Ive been eating off the same can of chicken noodle Soup broth for 3 day. I figure if I can get a little in its better than none. I no longer need my pain medicine. My energy level is picking up. Today I am going to the mall to walk around. We got this!!!

If you can...Dilute the G2 1/2 and 1/2 with Water. It will have the same affects okay!

Hi all, thanks for the help and information. The liquids have been much more easier to get in today. The rumbles and gurgles are still consistent. How long does this last for? When can I expect it to subside?

the rumbles keep going; I've not seen the end of them @ 2 years.

Quick question here: I was sleeved the 18th of June, so I'm on Day 6 post-op. My experience is that no matter how slowly I sip, how small the sip, or how much time between sips, at the end of the second sip of whatever it is.....bleah. I get that too-full, over-stuffed, I'm-gonna-be-sick feeling. Then, a couple of minutes later, it's gone.

Seriously, nobody has to wait, like, 5 minutes between sips, right? :-/

I was on Protein drinks from day 2 after surgery. The day of surgery i could only have ice chips but by the next morning they started bringing me Protein Drinks, an ounce at a time. Its weird to hear that u guys r all doing liquids for the first few days but no Protein. I try to stay away from fake sugars. I use stevia if i need to sweeten. I do eat some yogurt with fructose in it but stay clear of the fake stuff. By day 5-6 i was drinking 80-90g of protein and getting in almost all of my Water. Do most doctors start u out that way? I was pretty much healed by 4 wks and was able to go to the gym and exercise as long as i didnt strain my ab area. I have lost 104lbs in the last 6 months and doing good. I have noticed in reading that so many doctors do it so differently. I love the team i have and they have had major success with it. Good luck to all.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
